BOTOX®
FDA-approved Botox® is the world’s most popular non-surgical aesthetic treatment. Safe and clinically proven, Botox in Houston, Texas is effective in treating “dynamic” wrinkles, or wrinkles associated with facial movement and expression. It has been used safely for both cosmetic and therapeutic purposes for many years. Other neuromodulators, such as Dysport® and Xeomin®, are also purified forms of botulinum toxin type A that are very similar to Botox.
Botox & Dysport injections do not fill in the wrinkle but rather work by blocking the signals from the nerves to the muscles, causing muscles to relax. This reduces the muscle contraction that creates and deepens wrinkles. Therefore, Botox and Dysport can temporarily reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and when used long-term, they can even prevent wrinkles from forming while smoothing existing lines. These neuromodulators are effective in treating dynamic lines such as those along the glabella, forehead, crow’s feet, and neck bands.
People can be concerned about a “frozen look” after Botox or Dysport injections. This can be controlled with the amount of Botox or Dysport that is injected into the target muscle, which can vary from patient to patient. If over injection is performed, a frozen look may occur. Other issues include heavy brows or a droopy eyelid. We will carefully administer your neuromodulator treatment to ensure you receive the most balanced and flattering results.

Botox and Dysport are typically not necessary until the first signs of lines or wrinkles are visible. It is better to start at the first sign, as the sooner you begin treatment, the less likely that you will develop deep lines which are harder to treat.
No more than a pin prick! The needles are generally very small, and most patients experience little to no pain. There are topical numbing agents that can be used on request.
Botox and Dysport are both very similar. Their side effect profile, duration until onset and lasting time are similar. Patients with an allergy to cow’s milk protein should not be injected with Dysport. A consultation is the best way to determine which one is right for you!
