Nose Reshaping

Nose Reshaping in Fort Myers, FL

Nose reshaping, or rhinoplasty, is a transformative cosmetic surgical procedure designed to enhance your appearance and elevate your self-confidence by focusing on the central feature of your face in order to better suit your other facial features. Over time, factors like genetics, aging, and personal preferences can result in a nose shape that doesn’t align with your desired aesthetic or facial harmony. Rhinoplasty offers the opportunity to sculpt and refine this prominent facial feature, unveiling a more balanced and aesthetically pleasing look. Dr. Ritrosky holds a commitment to precision and ensures that your results are nothing short of extraordinary.

What is rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is a highly specialized surgical process that involves reshaping the nose by adjusting its structure, size, or proportions to create a more symmetrical and balanced appearance. It may include removing visible humps or depressions on the bridge, improving the nasal tip, size and position of the nostrils and nasal asymmetry.

Dr. Ritrosky works closely with you to understand your specific goals and concerns in order to sculpt results that align seamlessly with your individual facial features and your goals. He uses only direct-vision techniques for greater precision and accuracy. There are two types of rhinoplasty procedures, Open Rhinoplasty and Open Tip-Plasty. Each is performed on an outpatient basis under intravenous anesthesia.

Open Rhinoplasty entails bones, cartilage, and soft tissues being reshaped under direct vision. It is frequently used in cases of larger noses and involves one external incision across the columella, which is the strut between the nostrils. Open Tip-Plasty on the other hand is used if only the nasal tip is abnormal, which can be corrected with either a standard or external open approach. Large nostrils may be reduced through tiny incisions at the outer bases of the nostrils with either type of Rhinoplasty.

What does the healing process look like?

Following your rhinoplasty, you will go home with an external cast or splint in place. Your nose may be packed for 24-48 hours. The cast or splint is usually removed in one week. External sutures (if any are necessary) are removed in 4-6 days, and internal sutures dissolve on their own. Initial swelling and discomfort can be effectively managed with oral pain medication. The majority of swelling and bruising subsides over 2-4 weeks after your procedure.

Semi-final results are evident in about 3 months time, while final results become evident approximately 12-14 months after your rhinoplasty procedure once the affected tissues have softened completely. We understand that everyone heals uniquely, and if you ever have questions or concerns about your healing process, we’re here to address those with you!
