Eyelid Surgery

Eyelid surgery in Fort Myers, FL

Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure aimed at transforming your appearance and rekindling your self-confidence by focusing on the delicate area surrounding your eyes. Your eyes are oftentimes the first feature that others notice, and also happen to be one of the features that shows the earliest signs of aging. This is because the skin around your eyes is the thinnest, most delicate skin you have.

Over time, factors such as the natural aging process and gravity can result in sagging eyelids, the formation of wrinkles, and the emergence of fine lines. These age-related concerns can be influenced by genetic predispositions and environmental factors, leading to a tired or somber expression. Eyelid surgery not only addresses the physical effects of aging but also offers a remarkable opportunity to revitalize your overall facial aesthetic and symmetry. It’s a surgical procedure that leads to a more youthful and confident version of yourself, and can even contribute to improved vision.

What is eyelid surgery?

Eyelid surgery is a specialized surgical process that zeroes in on the area surrounding the eyes. Dr. Ritrosky pays meticulous attention to your unique facial features and collaborates closely with you to create results that align with your individual goals and concerns. This personalized approach ensures that the procedure aligns seamlessly with your specific facial attributes and vision.

The surgery focuses on removing excess skin, tightening underlying muscles, and addressing bulging or puffy eyelids to create a refreshed and rejuvenated appearance. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis under intravenous anesthesia. The incisions are made where the natural crease should be in the upper lids and below the lash line in the lower lids. If only excess fat is present in the lower lids, it may be removed through an incision inside the lower lids with no external incision or scar, this specific procedure is called a Transconjunctival Blepharoplasty.

What Does the Healing Process Look Like?

Following your eyelid surgery, you may experience bruising and sensitivity to light that may last 1-2 weeks. Any swelling should progressively disappear over the course of the first few weeks of recovery. Initial discomfort following an eyelid surgery can be managed with oral pain medication.

We understand that everyone heals uniquely, and if you ever have questions or concerns about your healing process, we’re here to provide you with support and answers.
